Bethany Reservoir is located about 10 miles northwest of Tracy in Alameda County. The reservoir serves as a forebay for South Bay Pumping Plant and a conveyance facility in this reach of the California Aqueduct.

Bethany Reservoir offers opportunities for fishing, boating, windsurfing, hiking, picnicking, and bicycling.

Weather can be changeable; layered clothing is recommended.

The reservoir is under the Turlock Lake State Recreation Area, operated by the California Department of Parks and Recreation, 22600 Lake Road; La Grange, CA 95229; (209) 874-2056.

Directions: Go seven miles off Interstate 580 and take the Grant Line Road exit.
