 Romero Visitors Center
View
The Romero Overlook Visitors Center commands a dramatic panorama of the 385 foot-tall rock and earthfill dam that stores 652 billion gallons of water in San Luis Reservoir.
Theater

Watch a multi-slide presentation bring to life the facility’s 1962 groundbreaking ceremony presided over by President John F. Kennedy and Governor Edmund G. Brown, Sr., or you can request to watch a video from a selection of water topics.

Exhibits

Exhibits explain how this joint state-federal complex of facilities serves both the State Water Project and the federal Central Valley Project.

Learning

You’ll also learn about the California Aqueduct and other SWP facilities, and the ways you and the environment benefit from the SWP.

Tours

Friendly DWR guides can give you an informal tour of the center and answer questions about the recreational activities available and the region's history.

The Romero Overlook Visitors Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. For more information, call (209) 827-5353. Free admission. For TTY phone service, call (916) 653-6226.
